Parents Album

I have been wanting to tell more stories with my scrapbooks. I do believe a picture can tell a thousand words. Although I think to be able to really hold on to memories you also need stories not just facts.

With my parents and myself getting older I realize how well do I really know them.
So I have decided to create a Parents Album. I want a place where I can keep photos, memories and stories I remember about growing up. But most important I had a few questions I wanted to ask them and have them written in their own words.

I have decided to do an 8x8 album. I picked about 5 questions and wrote them on a sheet of 8x8 paper. I decided to do neutral colors which will give me the opportunity to choose colors when I gather my photos and etc.

Here are my sheets with my questions.

The questions I chose to ask were:
  1. Favorite Movie
  2. If you could have dinner with a famous person who would it be.
  3. What would you like to be remembered for.
  4. Best Christmas present you ever received . Best present you ever gave.
  5. Most wonderful thing that has ever happened to you. Saddest thing that has ever happened to you.
  6. Where did you meet. How did he propose/How did you propose.

I made copies for my mom and my dad.
This way I can also preserve their handwriting.
I added a note explaining what I was doing and will mail it out to them.

I will keep sharing as I complete this album as it will be an ongoing project.

Tag Mini Book

If you are a crafter especially a scrapbooker you MUST check out My Craft Channel. I love the daily featured buy and of course all of the videos!

Yesterday there was a video by Teresa Collins she showed how to make a large tag book. You can check out the video here. I knew I wanted to do a mini book with all of Allys recent Easter pics and thought this would be perfect.

(Photos of Ally were done by Julie Iwankow Olean NY.)

The size of my book (tags) was 8 1/2 x 4 1/2. Also all of the components were used from the April MemoryWorks Express kit.

And the model posing with her book. Tomorrow she turns 4 so I had to take one more pic while she is still 3!

Sweet Shoppe Party!

I have been planning my daughters 4th Birthday party for awhile now. Sweet Shoppe was the theme. I had so much fun with it I really couldn't stop. Maybe I went a bit overboard but she only turns 4 once right?

First of all I would like to share some photographs a local photographer (Julie Iwankow from Julies Studio in Olean NY) took for me for her birthday. She was having a mini Easter shoot so I decided to do a double shoot and get some sweet shoppe shots too. (say that 10 times fast) They turned out great!

Now onto to the pics of the party. This was such a great theme I had so much fun and I think my daughter enjoyed it as much as I did.

So in love

I received the new Memory Works Express kit in the mail Saturday and fell in love!
This kit is by far my favorite kit EVER!
I recently got my daughters pictures professionally taken for Easter and her birthday and knew this kit would be perfect for those Easter pics!

This is what I created that night with it:

I'm thinking a mini book with the other photographs is also on my To Do list!

Ad Inspiration

I received the new JC Penny ad campaign in the mail at the beginning of the month and was instantly inspired.

I found so many color combination ideas and the layouts of the ads gave me great ideas for page layouts.

Here were a few of my favorites in the book:

This one really caught my eye and I decided to use it as a page map. I do this a lot with magazine ads, article layouts etc.
If you see one that really catches your eye try incorporating a scrapbook page out of it.

Where the large photos and images are, place photos and embellishments
Where the titles and text are placed, use your titles and journaling.
This ad was great because it helped me create a 2 page layout :)
